"TEKLASTYLE" is a contest held by TEKLA, an Italian manufacturer of doors and windows.
The contest aimed at creating a graphical symbol that may be associated with a sort of TEKLA tribe as a brand for every one who wants to be part of the distinctive style of TEKLA.
The name TEKLA is closer to the Italian word "TECA" that is a sort of transparent casket usually made of glass, a secure container for beautiful precious things.
"THEKLA" instead is a Greek female name that means bright, bringer of light, a concept closer to the idea of home and sun.
The Greek reference associates some typical Greek values as beauty, harmony, equilibrium and durability.
Our "Teklastyle" proposal uses the seashell as a symbol, depicted to be closer to the graphical concept of the actual TEKLA logo.
In the past the seashell was assumed as the symbol of birth and regeneration intended as immortality and therefore as timeless beauty.
The seashell is a secure container that preserves precious objects for the body and also for the soul: the pearl, one of the most attractive female jewels, and the holy water (because the traditional St. George holy water fonts have a seashell shape).
The seashell is also a sort of home for many creatures, so it recalls the ideas of reception, protection, sacredness, security, family and hospitality.
Our proposal depicts a half open bivalve shell to recall the idea of something that can be opened or closed like a door or a window.

When I got to know about this interesting contest I prepared some drafts, which I used to develop the final version of the brand.Luciano Mammino ( Activity: Graphics )
I collaborated in the process of refining the initial graphic concept and then I prepared the final presentation of the work.
